A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a pre-school teacher for two years in Syracuse, NY, where I was motivated to enter into the field of education on a permanent basis. I went back to school to attain my masters degree in education in 2008, and finished student teaching in December of 2009. I am accustomed to teaching children from various backgrounds, and learning styles. I am eager to initiate a career in education and serve the students in the greater Cortland county area.
I love teaching, working, and playing with children. I believe that children learn most effectively from using both a hands and minds-on learning/teaching style. As all children come from differing/diverse backgrounds, I utilize communication with both the students and parents in order to effectively teach said child. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in mentoring. It does take a few times for the student (young and old) to understand that I cannot teach them anything. I can present information to them and attempt to inspire them to learn, but they are the ones who ultimately teach themselves. I very much enjoy helping them figure out the answers to their own problems. My motto: It is my job to help you not need me anymore!
I am a professional singer, actress and dancer who has taught throughout my 15 year career. I truly love teaching, especially in a one-on-one or very small group setting. Currently I teach private lessons in: piano, voice and acting. I also teach small-group: Piano, Acting, Choir, Learn to Read Music, Creative Movement, Pilates, Boot Camp, Kick Boxing. I also work with the local home school community as a 'tutor' for math and English.
