My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : Started teaching Trigonometry when I was 20 yrs old in the classroom!

Non-traditional Mathematics Instructor/Tutor for over 20 years! I started teaching Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, at Fordham University Upward Bound Program to high school students. There was a need for an additional Algebra I teacher, because of the large influx of unexpected enrollment. My high school mathematics Instructor recommended me to teach the class, because I was to be her teaching assistant. I was a dual major Biology/Mathematics at Syracuse University. Personal concerns prevented me from pursing a traditional education,so I used my life experiences for Mathematics Instructor positions. I went back to school in 2003 and started The Math Train, a private tutorial service. The audience I targeted initially were students in the surrounding area colleges: Atlanta Metropolitan College, Atlanta Technical College, and Georgia State University. The students with children als ... read more

My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : Not a lot of people seem to care about what trigonometry actually means. First thing they have in mind is sine, cosine and tangent with theta tagged on them. Trigonometry comes from combination of Greek word "trigon" meaning triangle and "metron" meaning measure. Therefore, trigonometry is the measure of triangle regarding its sides, height, angle and areas. So where do other geometric figures come then? We still see sines, cosines and tangents, right? Well, every geometric figure at a minute level can be thought of as a triangle and thus those sines, cosines and tangents. Trigonometry deals with various identical relationships of sides and angles, henceforth.

Holding a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics, I have knowledge of both Mathematics and its application to Economics as well as other real world situations. I have advanced experience on tutoring high school students and college students in courses like PreCalculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Combinatorics and Probability, Econometrics, Calculus I, Calculus II and Calculus III and MicroEconomics and MacroEconomics as well as International Economics. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at Oglethorpe University. While I was in university, I was consistently given excellent feedback. I was a high demand tutor in both Mathematics and Economics. Although, I only had four regular hours a week, I used to get more than seven hours of extra hours per week. Some of the reasons are I give students simple and real world examples to help them understand complex ... read more

My Motto: Every Child Deseves To Succeed!

I first began tutoring when I was attending University of Michigan. It gave me great pleasure to help others succeed. After graduating I held many prestigous positions but none captured my passion as much as tutoring. Eventually my passion got the best of me and I began tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school students. For the past 5 years I have been professionally tutoring elementary school through freshman college students. I partner with local elementary - high schools: E.W. West Elementary, Landmark Academy,Langston High School, and Mills Springs Academy. I also work with Graduation Counselors to prepare their students to take ACT, ASVAB, and SAT tests. My students say that I make learning easy to understand. I believe every student has the potential to suceed. The key to their success is to teach by using the method in which they learn. I tutor Algebra, Geometry, Trigon ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have currently finished 2nd-year Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick, Ireland. I love working with people and helping them in their studies and Musical interests. I have given classes on maths and physics before for high school and college-level students. These are topics I am really interested in and I want to help kids understand these topics better and develop a passion for it. I am also very interested in playing the keyboard. I was preparing kids for their Trinity keyboard grade exams in Ireland.
- Understanding the topic in-depth rather than learning off random facts. - Make the class as easy and fun as possible.

Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. During my time at Albany ... read more

My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : While I have not taught a formal course in trigonometry, I have, in the course of tutoring many students, have developed the knowledge of how to present the subject to students and help them learn the various identities and derivations, along with the associated problem-solving techniques. I also teach students structured methods of studying and solving problems.

As a teacher and tutor, I focus on developing conceptual knowledge (rather than memorization), and structured study methods, problem-solving techniques, and test-taking skills, including post-test analyses of mistakes as a learning tool. I encourage the student to develop skills appropriate not only to the discipline, but to his or her own personal learning style. I like to use on-line interactive tutorials, especially with students who are highly visual or hands-on learners. At the same time, as a tutor,I like to interact with the student's instructor (and, where appropriate, the parents) to best serve his or her needs.
I have taught at three universities (The University of Michigan, Henry Ford Community College, and Lawrence Technological University) and tutored formally at two (Henry Ford Community College and Georgia Perimeter College). I have also tutored as an independent ... read more

Focused Math Tutor with dedication and direction

I am a very logical and result oriented person. If you are interested in seeing better results from the scores, tests and believe in making rapid change in your thought process, you may want to try me. I believe learning should be fun and not all work. Not all answers will be shortcuts that would involve lot of memorizing, but very systematic and logical way of approaching a problem for the student to gain interest and at the same time be able to address any problem out of the box. I do understand that not all students are the same and each one of them would require different teaching model to reach eventually to the same high levels. I have given several exams in and out of the country and there are definite tips that can help the student to achieve better results with the same knowledge level. I have scored over 95 percentiles in almost all the exams that I gave, some times wit ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Trigonometry Tutoring

Where do you turn when the angles don't make sense, cosines seem like co-signs, and every time you try to study trigonometry you go off on a tangent? Select your tutor today to help understand the ratio of the side opposite the angle to the hypotenuse. sin A = opposite/hypotenuse = a/c. Okay who thinks that has something to do with sins, dating or air conditioning? You have come to the right place. Trig is used in astronomy, geography, satellite navigations systems and other disciplines to pinpoint a location with increased accuracy to allow further action to be taken. Help understanding how this applies is available when you select your tutor today.
