Also, I'm the oldest sibling of four, I have had many years of helping out with homework and tutoring in reading, writing and math. A Little Bit About Me...

The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.

A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan, one of the top 2 school in teaching in Michigan. In college, I tutored Biology and Chemistry. Most of my Chemistry students still thank me today for getting them through the course and into the nursing program. I graduated with a BS in secondary education,Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have been in North Carolina for almost 4 years and I have taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. I also enjoy Math. I am able to tutor Math students up to and including Algebra I.
I have taken several courses on the different styles of learning. I try to find out what style works best for my students and work from there. I enjoy teaching and helping other students understand difficult material. I love to use diagrams and other visual teaching tools. Often I relate biology to everyday life situations to help students understand better. Every student learns differently, but the material can be understood by every student.
