I like helping students learn and seeing them succeed. I feel the best way to teach a student is by finding out which technique they most agree with. I am patient and easy going and want to provide the best education possible. With the appropriate learning experiences, I believe any student can meet their potential and my goal is to help them do so. I have recently graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in statistics. The coursework in this program has allowed me to gain an understanding of many areas of statistics and mathematics. In addition, I have learned grammatical skills through writing reports and essays in English classes. As a young R.O.T.C cadet, I was very driven to excel in my college education. On my way to becoming a young Army Officer, I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Communications and BA in Accoutning. My liberal arts educations granted me opportunities to learn and excel in many arenas such as writing, math, science, and the social sciences. I learned the art of effective communication, writing extensive essays and reports, as well as giving many speeches to audiences of various sizes. In 2000 I volunteered in the local high school's journalism class because of my passion for writing. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. In 2005 I began teaching annual writing workshops at Simpson College for 6th - 12th grade students. In 2006 I attended substitute teacher training, and I began substitute teaching in 2009.
