A Little Bit About Me...

Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. Recently I have just returned from studying at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. The year abroad helped me to better understand my culture and gain a stronger grip on my native language. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic.
