A Little Bit About Me...

As a person who holds both a BA and MA in English, each with concentrations in writing (creative and technical, respectively), I am qualified to, and have for several years, tutored English language studies skills, including composition, grammar, punctuation, and reading comprehesion, to students from the third grade through college. I have also taught English composition at the college level. Additionally, I have tutored students from primary to secondary school in other liberal arts subjects where English language and study skills are applicable, such as social studies and history. My style of teaching is entirely dependent upon the needs of each student. My abilities and skills are highly adaptable to the needs each student faces. I believe that each student has a certain type of intelligence. Some will be gifted in art or music or visual learning or learning by repetition, and I consider it my responsibility to find out how each student learns, and then try to teach using their innate intelligence. For instance, if a student learns best using music, I will try to create a song that will help them learn the material. I have had success with this as a teacher of Latin. I have worked with adults. I prefer a one on one direct instruction and mentoring, keeping everything simple and fun.
