Turning your weakness into your strength

I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"
I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a French teacher, I encouraged learning by using a number of different manipulative, hand-on activities, and various forms of technology. By incorporating discussions and open-ended questions, I was able to facilitate a highly interactive and inquisitive atmosphere. In addition, I utilized weekly quizzes and monthly tests to track student progress, locate areas of weakness, and prepare students for finals exams. My goal is to increase student motivation, awareness, and understanding of French Language, while implementing interdisciplinary-based lessons involving grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension.

A Little Bit About Me...

Education has been a priority for me my whole life. I first began tutoring college students in Math while still in college and have always been willing to teach or train anyone who needed it in my personal life or in a professional capacity. My formal education consists of a BS in Mathematics with a Concentration in Physics and a Certificate in Drafting Technology. My informal education is broad including working "in the real world" in fields such as banking, manufacturing, and administration. I also, for many years, home schooled my own son.
