A Little Bit About Me...

While I like students to know that I am an expert in my subject field, I also want them to take the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills. I want them to gather information, ask questions and break things down to a level that makes sense for them. With that being said, I believe I have a teaching style that resembles that of a facilitator. The overall challenge is to help students reach their capacity for independent action, initiative, and responsibility. The students I've mentored and tutored have worked with me in a more consultative approach where they can see me as someone to provide support and encouragement -- not always answers.

After graduating from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in Rhetoric & English, I gained a year and a half of experience in the field of Public Relations where I further refined my writing and editing skills. I spent two years as a long term substitute with Columbus City Schools.
