Piano is one of my top subjects! Over 40 years teaching experience

Piano lessons should be fun, as well as instructive. Some quotes from some of my students: - “I can’t pass the piano without wanting to play this piece.” - “I’m gonna do that again because it was fun!” - “I’ll be eating lunch and all of a sudden I have a burning desire to play the piano”. - “My favorite day of the week is Piano Lesson Day. Piano is fun!” When a student works on repertoire that he or she really likes, that makes practicing more fun. I teach classical repertoire, as well as pop, show tunes, jazz, etc. Proper technique and a knowledge of theory is important in any genre, so weekly assignments feature technical exercises and written work in addition to repertoire. I have a very strong level of education and experience in accounting and finance. I have a BS in Accountancy at the University of Illinois and passed the CPA as well. In addition to the insurance designations of FLMI, FFSI and AIAF, I also passed the Series 7, 27 and 63 exams and was a broker/dealer Financial and Operations Principal for several years. Most recently I was an Investment Accounting Manager for an insurance company. My teaching experience is fairly limited. Last year I was a paid chess coach for K-8 and plan to continue to do that. I have also helped as an Awana leader and VBS leader at church.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that each child needs to feel appreciated and successful. My sessions include, of course, language, music, or speech, but I also work in philosophy, history, and technology. I feel that students of today are not receiving as much well rounded education as they desire, or need, for the future workplace or self-satisfaction. My students not only feel that they are learning a language or how to play and instrument, but that they are acquiring real world skills that will help them succeed in whatever field they choose. I hope to bring my love and passion toward languages and music to all students, so that they too can share in the excitement, brain-boosting energy, and fun that these fields can offer.
