I have over twenty seven years of hands on experience in the accounting industry. The standards in the accounting program at UAH are set very high. Through the 10 course curriculum, all the test were taken from the CPA exam. I first and foremost believe that every child can learn, and I refuse to entertain any idea that says otherwise. I have found that a constructivist approach works best for most children, and I will always try this approach first. I try to make learning as hands on and relevant to the real world as possible.
I graduated from one of the top teaching schools in the nation (according to NCATE), and have a degree in elementary and special education. My teaching style changes based on the learning style of my students. Some are more concrete and others are more abstract. I am comfortable teaching at all levels of both the cognitive and affective domains. I enjoy working one on one with students and tailoring lesson plans to help the student get the most out of a class. In school I took a class that taught us that everyone learns in a different way. Just like how everyone sees things from different perspectives. After taking that class I realized that there is not just one way to teach or learn. I feel learning should be educational but fun. Repetition is also important. These aspects should all be combined in order to successfully help children learn. I am friendly, easy going, and like to have a good time.
