I have over twenty years experience as a music teacher. Every student has been different in the way they respond to my teaching and the way they communicate. I have over twenty seven years of hands on experience in the accounting industry. The standards in the accounting program at UAH are set very high. Through the 10 course curriculum, all the test were taken from the CPA exam. Even though I thought I had learned alot at UAH, I have learned a great deal more by working and obtaining a certain amount of hands on experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style changes based on the learning style of my students. Some are more concrete and others are more abstract. I am comfortable teaching at all levels of both the cognitive and affective domains. I enjoy working one on one with students and tailoring lesson plans to help the student get the most out of a class. I typically introduce a concept or principle, describe why the principle is important, provide a variety of illustrations, then let the student try some exercises. I then have the student walk through each of these four categories to make sure they have a thorough understanding of the topic and how it relates to what we have learned in previous lessons.

A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a BS in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. My background is not in education however I have experience as a teacher. I have been a water safety instructor and lifeguard training instructor in which I have taught children from toddler age up to college age. I have also tutored my wife and sister in accounting and my 12 year old nephew in math.
I am a very patient person and realize that people understand things differently. Ideally, I try to focus on the logic and thought process that goes in to doing the work. I believe that once the thought process is mastered, the student can progress and solve more complex problems on their own.
