When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching. While I have also been a counselor and administrator, I managed to be able to at least tutor along the way, with a few exceptional years. I found that children were especially responsive to me, so I often found myself with elementary children (who, under my tutelage, managed to "catch up" an/or improve their grade point average -- often to their parents' delight). Since I love learning, children and teens "catch" my enthusiasm, and invariably get caught up with my honest excitement about a suject. Learning is a terrific discovery process, and mastery of data and sills makes one far more confident. My enthusiasm is absolutely sincere (you cannot act out a love for learning, without being discovered). More About This Tutor...

I believe that teaching through lecture and hands-on activities is the most effective. A student that is capable of "teaching" the teacher a lesson and explaining the subject in their own words will have a greater understanding of the subject. When I teach and tutor I explain to the student the topic in my words, and then continue to ask for feedback until the student is capable of explaining the lesson in their own words.
While attending law school, I spent 2 full academic years tutoring first year law students. I tutored property and constitutional law. It was through tutoring that I was able to help several students improve their grades, both through emotional support and exceptional knowledge in the subjects. I enjoy learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others.
