Genetics is one of my top subjects! A large component of my graduate research utilized population genetics to answer fisheries questions.

I prefer a relaxed atmosphere of one-on-one teaching with a hands-on approach. I feel that part of the problem, for so many students, is that they are not comfortable approaching their teachers and asking questions. I want to create an atmosphere where there is no hesitancy to ask any question. The student's progress will determine the pace.

I have taken several courses on the different styles of learning. I try to find out what style works best for my students and work from there. I know several ways to solve Chemistry problems and I try different ones if the first method does not work. I have learned to use many analogies when teaching Biology. I find that students remember more when they are able to compare a concept to something they are alreaday familiar with.

I have been tutoring since I was 13 years old. Parents of my peers always approached me to teach their son or daughter. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time.
