I graduated from Mount Union College in May 2006 with a BA in History and a double minor in Adoloescent to Young Adult Education and American Studies. Throughout high school I was a teacher's assistant helping with students in class during my study halls as well as working one on one with students for extra study skills. I like to get to know the child and form a friendship with him or her. Once we develop a rapport it is easier for them to open up to me. When the comfort level is established we then develop a mutual-learning relationship, as I can learn from the student just as much as he or she can learn from me.
I have tutored throughout school and into college. During college, I mentored and tutored two young girls from an under-privileged school for a local program. After college, I did some private consulting, helping people write admissions essays and prepare for the ACT and other standardized tests.
