I have a BA in English and am writing my thesis for a MA in Humanities. I have been a tutor and have worked with children for over 10 years. I have mentored Jr. High students and currently work with elementary school children in grades K-6th. I am a published author and have written and produced many of my own plays. I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I am very easy to get along with, so the student will have no problems with me. My first aim when I am working with students is to establish a rapport - being a college student always helps. I am patient in the classroom and try my best to tackle problems/questions from new angles if students don't seem to understand; I have spent much time working with non-native English speakers, which has enabled me to develop an intuitive sense of where a particular misunderstanding might originate.
