Students have described me as a very caring and kind educator. I take the time to explain how and why things are different in foreign languages. In the beginning of the year (or when I get a new student), I take the time out to give the student a quiz that helps determine what learning style they are based off of seven different learning styles. This helps the students learn not only about themselves in my class, but also in others as well. I also use this information to develop lesson plans around the needs of the students. This allows the students to participate in a wide array of learning activities, continue to be engaged, and learn the target language seven different ways.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for teaching children as well as adults how to use music as a tool for expression. I encourage listening to music and interacting with it (playing by ear with music selected by the student and/or teacher) in order to understand its langauage. My mission is to give to others what God has given to me: A deep appreciation for how music can be used as a tool to express joy and gratitude to my creator.
I began my musical journey learning the value of playing by ear from my father, a very skillful jazz trumpet player. I played in the local jazz workshop with accomplished musicians while in high school and was awarded a scholarship to the Jamey Aebersold Jazz clinic in Indiana.
