I have a passion for teaching children as well as adults how to use music as a tool for expression. I encourage listening to music and interacting with it (playing by ear with music selected by the student and/or teacher) in order to understand its langauage. My mission is to give to others what God has given to me: A deep appreciation for how music can be used as a tool to express joy and gratitude to my creator.
I began my musical journey learning the value of playing by ear from my father, a very skillful jazz trumpet player. I played in the local jazz workshop with accomplished musicians while in high school and was awarded a scholarship to the Jamey Aebersold Jazz clinic in Indiana. A Little Bit About Me...

Spanish and teaching have always been passions of mine that I have been fortunate enough to make a career out of doing and using both. I have a bachelor's degree (BA) in Spanish with a teaching certificate and I am currently working on my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught for six years in the Northern Virginia area, Washington D.C. and in Independence, Missouri. I have also tutored students in Spanish of all levels, taught Spanish 1 and 2, as well as English as a Second Language.
Students have described me as a very caring and kind educator. I take the time to explain how and why things are different in foreign languages.
