A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). A natural teacher, I started helping my fellow students in High School. This lead to tutoring algebra to middle school students. Then I applied to be a note-taker and tutor at community a local college, then I was a teaching assistant at Binghamton University for Biology. In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.
