Credentialed Elementary Teacher Able to Tutor K-12

I use a comprehensive homeschool curriculum with progress monitoring reports, and my lessons are interactive and designed to meet the needs of each student. I try to have fun and make it relevant to their own experience, and I ensure that every student feels included and welcomed. In the classroom, my biggest strengths are levels of engagement and behavior management utilizing SEL methods.
I am a credentialed elementary teacher, but have experience tutoring K-12, both in person and virtually. I began tutoring virtually starting in mid 2019 and refined my skills during the pandemic when everything became virtual. I also currently teach 3rd grade in California and participate regularly in plenty of professional development, including post graduate courses. I do not like to teach out of textbooks. I use them primarily as resources. I prefer to create a lesson or activity that plays to the strengths of the individual child/student and challenges them on their particular level. I have found interactive lessons are very effective for all age ranges.
I spent 2 years tutoring Math for the students in my Mothers classroom afterschool (4th grade). As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level.
