Math, Science & Microsoft Excel tutor

I have two technical-college degrees, I worked my way through both of them being a math tutor, and have used math and science in some way in every job I've ever held. As for my "teaching style", as everyone knows, it helps enormously just to have another person to work with, ask questions of, and generally talk things through. And since Im not a professional teacher, Im mostly a working tech--maybe I can help you see the connections between the abstract science & math the way its taught in school, and how that knowledge actually applies in the workplace (and in life.)
On-the-job math is almost always done using Microsoft Excel, so I can show you how to do almost anything on a spreadsheet. I pride myself on being a very patient, caring person and love seeing children learn and have their eyes opened as to the possibilities that are there for them. I enjoy helping children learn and seeing the light come on for them as they gain understanding and knowledge. My children are grown and I am looking for a way to help younger ones learn, as I have helped my own children learn and grow to their full potential.
I have spent 12 years volunteering as a tutor at the elementary school level. I have helped students in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I worked with a number of great teachers who taught me ways of reaching students to help them gain increased skill levels. I have also been playing piano all my life and have taught beginning piano. As a student in Health Science, i.e. Medical Technology, I worked in a genetics laboratory for 14 years learning lab instrumentation, trouble-shooting, cytogenetics and professional etiquette. Lectures as well as public presentations of newly discovered genetic abnormalities was my passion. I truly enjoyed preparing and presenting these exciting talks.
