My comments on tutoring Musical : Was in band and other musical groups in school.

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. A Little Bit About Me...

I pride myself on being a very patient, caring person and love seeing children learn and have their eyes opened as to the possibilities that are there for them. I enjoy helping children learn and seeing the light come on for them as they gain understanding and knowledge. My children are grown and I am looking for a way to help younger ones learn, as I have helped my own children learn and grow to their full potential.
I have spent 12 years volunteering as a tutor at the elementary school level. I have helped students in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I worked with a number of great teachers who taught me ways of reaching students to help them gain increased skill levels. I have also been playing piano all my life and have taught beginning piano. Music brings me joy and I love sharing that joy with my students.

As a student in Health Science, i.e. Medical Technology, I worked in a genetics laboratory for 14 years learning lab instrumentation, trouble-shooting, cytogenetics and professional etiquette. Lectures as well as public presentations of newly discovered genetic abnormalities was my passion. I truly enjoyed preparing and presenting these exciting talks. I decided to change careers and look into the education field. I have been working on obtaining my Alternative Teaching License and will complete my coursework for this by the end of May, 2011. Teaching is not only my career, it's my life. I strongly believe in Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences which states that there are eight different pathways to learning; as a result, I rely on kinesthetic, spatial, and musical intelligences to present new information.
