I completed my bachelor degree in English in three and a half years at Bucknell University, and this has trained me in writing, literary analysis, and oral communication. While at Bucknell, I spent four months tutoring children at a local elementary school in grades 3-5 in math, science, and reading. I, also, completed Bucknell’s Writing Center four month training course for tutoring in all types of writing. I spent a full year tutoring peers, underclassmen, and even graduate students in their writing process. It is very important to let children know that there is no wrong or right way of doing their work, as long as it is done correctly. They also need to know that their methods are their own. Children needs reassurance. When A childs' work is not done to one's full potential, it is not my strategy to make them feel like less of a child. It is however, my strategy to work with that child until he/she understands WHY the work was not done correctly, and then let him/her correct the work themself. This in my opinion, lets a child know that we believe in him/her. That is the most important lesson a child can learn. That they are their own person and that they all have the potential to achieve the goals set for them.
