A year or so later I began working for a private tutoring company, teaching middle school and high school students math, writing skills, time management skills, social studies, and science. I find that many students in high school are not ready for college and struggle when they attend. The reason they are not ready is because they do not spend much time learning how to learn. I believe the main job of teachers is to teach students learning skills and strategies. We all have different abilities and strenghths, but we can all learn these strategies. My teaching style is to give students a strong feeling of safety and structure and then help them to create and attain their learning goals.
