Tutor with Real Life Experience

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.
I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students i ... read more

I'm currently a senior attending Winter Park High School. I have a slew of education and extracurricular related accolades, and have been commended highly for my skills in writing (both creative and professional). My transcript has a long history of Advanced Placement courses and my standardized exam scores are impressive to say the least least (30 ACT, 1800 SAT, multiple AP Exam credits).
I actually don't have much experience as a tutor beyond helping classmates study, however throughout my experience in high school I've experimented with and adopted many avant-garde and unorthodox studying techniques and thought processes that have served gratuitously to my benefit, and I'm positive will serve yours as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a math tutor since 2006. I have tutored all kind of classes at Miami Dade college and Marshall University. I enjoy doing math and helping people who have difficulties figuring out how to solve certain problems. It all starts with the basics. If you master the basics, you should do fine in the subject. That's why I believe everybody can get better at math if he/she gets the proper motivation which is what I plan on bringing out of you.
I help students become independent learners. I am here to guide you through a problem, not to do it for you. With guidance, I believe students master the material easier.

My comments on tutoring Logic : Have taught Logic at two community colleges and at ITT-Tech. Total teaching experience in the subject is 32 years

I am capable of both structured and informal teaching styles depending upon the situation. I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. Repetition is normally the best way to comprehend not only the material presented but it allows the student to assimilate the steps and formulas simulataneously.
I possess over 30 years of academic/industry training the areas of mathematics, networking, programming and engineering. Having taught for 2 universities, 2 community colleges and several private institutions I bring to the class both an academic/private industry point of view. Students are taught not only the specific details of the course but are also shown where the subject matter is used in industry along jobs which might employ this knowled ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love seeing the look of a child that's gaining new understanding. I believe that every child has his/her own learning style and must be taught instruction according to the manner with which they learn. When an instructor takes the time to learn what works best for a specific child, they've found the key(s) to that childs success, self-esteem and can easily help them excel to their fullest potential. My goal when tutoring is to sows seeds of understanding, knowledge and confidence in each child that I come in contact with. I believe that learning math can be fun and can be taught with humor & in a manner that relates to real-life situations.
As an undergraduate in Biology, I was required to take and excel in many areas of mathematics. I am patient, compassionate and empathetic to the frustrations both students and parents experience with math. Over the last 10 years I've tutor ... read more

More About This Tutor...

While attaining my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, I took high level math classes as electives since math came so easy to me. Because of this I did not have to spend as much time on the math classes and was able to concntrate more on my business classes. I also was able to make some extra money as a tutor helping other students. I completed through Calculus II, and received a 4.0 in all math classes I took in college.
I believe that students learn math through repetention. Constantly doing problems until it becomes second nature and you don't think about anymore, it just happens. I believe the more problems you see solved, the easier it is to solve a new problem by basing the solving process on past experiences.
