Calculus I is one of my top subjects!

During my sophomore year I started tutoring for the mathematics department, educating my peers in a wide variety of mathematical topics. With this in mind, my teaching style usually walks a student through a concept thoroughly, utilizing problems to guide understanding. For the subjects I tutor, my style is 'pushing a pencil'. Only a genius can handle these subjects without doing problems. Everyone else, if they want to learn the subject must do problems. Usually the problems worked are the ones with answers in the back of the book. I'm careful not to do problems that are assigned as homework. Besides, I have all my books at home, and I know students will not have the same problems assigned as the ones I choose to do out of my 20 year old books.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have formally tutored with Madison College on two occasions lasting a year. I was also Tutoring throughout my time at Edgewood on a drop in basis with any students that came to the math department and could not reach a professor. I have a BS in Mathematics and doing math at all levels is fun for me.
I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student.
