I feel it is important for students to learn not only what the answer is to a given question, but also understand the concepts and reasoning behind the answer. With this in mind, my teaching style usually walks a student through a concept thoroughly, utilizing problems to guide understanding. I find it beneficial to first gain an perceptive of where the student is at, walk them through the concept, and discuss problems step-by-step until a solution is reached. Once the concept is grasped, I often have students walk through additional problems so the student is assured that they understand the topic. One young lady I tutored named Glenda Lenahan, having made an F on her first calculus test, requested that I tutor her. When she took the second test she mad a 98. I jokingly asked her what she missed! May 27, 2011, my job was eliminated. I had been helping my son with his calculus and physics and found that I still remembered much of what I knew before. I have formally tutored with Madison College on two occasions lasting a year. I was also Tutoring throughout my time at Edgewood on a drop in basis with any students that came to the math department and could not reach a professor. I have a BS in Mathematics and doing math at all levels is fun for me.
I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. Mathematics is a field that requires repetition but making that repetition as interesting as possible is a fun challenge. A Little Bit About Me...

There is no better moment that when a child becomes engaged and starts understanding and asking questions. Once a child starts asking questions you know that they are excited about it and want to learn. When teaching my goal is always to get children excited about what they are doing and then proceed from there. All children have different strengths and I try to work from those strengths.
I recently graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering. I have taken extensive courses in math and science. Math and science are fields that I love and excel at. While in undergrad I was active in many student organizations and volunteer opportunities. I volunteered at science olympiad for a year and also tutored middle school students.
