A Little Bit About Me...

i will explain till student understands the topic.
i have experience teaching student. i love to help students. Personally, I experienced many great moments while teaching. These were days when I ended so happy and enthusiastic that I knew I had selected the right profession. On the other hand, I had days where I definitely questioned teaching as a career. These were days where the students seemed uninterested, too talkative, or even worse a blow up occurred and nothing got accomplished. Thankfully the average combined with the positive days outshine my negative days.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I am a high school student and I've taken algebra during my first year. Although, I have not taken the class for years, math is cumulative and the building blocks start in elementary. In school, I consider math as my strongest subject.

I like to take what they know, help them understand it a little more, then apply it. I walk them through different questions they encounter and then watch them try it for themselves. If they make a mistake, I help them understand what went wrong and how to fix it. I am very hands on and I like to reward them with encouraging comments.
Although, I'm still a high school student, I've helped many students in my class with understanding what they were taught. I've been told by a lot of my friends that I should become a teacher. I love teaching, and if it had a higher salary pay, that would be my career choice. I've been helping kids with math before I realized that I was helping them. I love it when they understand it and their face just lights up.

More About This Tutor...

Hello, I'm a senior at Canyon High and a valedictorian of my class of 2013. I have taken over 10 AP tests (with scores of 4 or 5 on all of them) and succeeded in getting 2340 on the SAT. As you can see, I am a hard worker with a purpose in my mind. Some people may argue that good grades do not necessarily predict great tutoring skills. But no worries. I have some experience in tutoring: I tutored my peers and middle school students at church and at school in AP Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I, Geometry, and Spanish.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! Algebra is my strongest subject in math, and I can help students in Algebra 1 exceptionally well. I took Algebra 1 back in 8th grade, and ever since then have been using the basic concepts taught in Algebra 1 in varying fields of math. Algebra is also my favorite subject in math and I enjoy helping my peers in Algebra more than any other subject.

When teaching a student, i try to help them understand the concept of the lesson before trying to explain the procedure. Once i have explained the concept to them, I show them how to work out the problem. Once I have walked them through a few problems, I let them try to do a couple on their own, until they get stuck. When they get stuck I try to reinforce the concept, while not actually helping the student work out the problem, unless it is neccesarry.
I am a recent graduate of Rosamond High School. During my time there I took math all the way up to AP Calculus. I took the AP test, and am awaiting the results. I have a refined mathematical aptitude, and strong people skills. I may haven never tutored professionally, but I have helped many of my peers understands challenging mathematical concepts. Whenever someone was stumped they would come to me for help. Many of my peers tell me ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Tutored basic math through advanced calculus in college.

I excelled in both math and English tracks in high school, and when they ran out of math classes I could take, I started on computers. I put myself through college tutoring all levels of math from basic mathematics to advanced calcusus (though I never did like trig). I've been an award-winning professional website designer/developer for 16 years.
