I am open to different tutoring/teaching styles to accommodate different peoples individual needs and differences in learning style.I am very passionate about teaching/tutoring and enjoy helping others and seeing them understand a concept that before may have been trivial to them. I do whatever I possibly can in order to accommodate each persons needs. I was a very shy child, and have been able to find comfort within to obtain success in not only the classroom, but in life. I am good at drawing students out of their shell, and figuring out how they can be most comfortable with academics to benefit the most from their education. I believe that my success in a tutoring situation is as dependent on the student’s style of learning as it is on my method of tutoring. I recognize not everyone learns the same way. My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. This ensures that each student in the class is following, or else they lose their turn to read. If I'm working w/ a student w/ poor reading skills, I allow them to read, and help them w/ the difficult words, encouraging them to sound out the word. I also try to engage models, and kinestetics, in the learning process. One picture=1,000 words, and one model = 1,000 pictures. I also use these techniques in teaching mathematics.
