Have fun while learning!

I have taught Kindergarten through 4th grade and have accumulated over 11 years of experience. I love teaching young children and am so excited when I see the little light bulbs of learning turn on. I teach with the multiple intelligence approach. Every child has a special way that they learn whether it be spatial, linguistic, mathematical, kinesthetic, musical, intra/interpersonal, or a naturalist, the way they learn is the key to success. If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.

My approach is simple: assess the student's academic weaknesses, review the strengths, then teach the new material in order to bridge the content or skill. "Scaffolding" is the best means by which to teach so that the student understands the significance of the lesson. Too often, teachers play sage-on-stage, thereby neglecting to connect what the student already knows with the new material.
