I was a volunteer camp counselor responsible for youth ages 12-18, teaching, leading for a week at a time for the duration of 9-13 weeks for three summers. I have worked in both General Education and ESE education. I speak spanish fluently and french, semifluently. I also have some background in American Sign Language. I have also worked with the emotionally disturbed child.
I use whatever works best for the child and can hold their attention span. It depends largely on the child's age, interests, and whether or not there are any learning, or any other disabilities. All children are capable of learning and enjoying to learn. I believe all children, whether normal developing or special needs deserves the same experiences, just delivered in different ways.

A Little Bit About Me...

1) My experience has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of 11-21 year old students, who have an equally wide range of educational abilities. I worked one-on-one with students with special needs and helped educate students in regular education classrooms. Working with these students has allowed me to develop and adjust my teaching style to meet the needs of the students. For example, if a student was a visual learner, I utilized illustrations and created visuals to aid in their comprehension of the subject. If a student was a tactile learner, I provided creative and fun ways to make physical examples that would aid in their learning.
