I was born and raised in Japan. I spend 13 years in Japan and I moved to America. Japanese is my first language, so that I know Japanese more than anybody else in Cleveland. I can teach from really begining to super high level. Compare to other tutor, I have less experience teaching things. But I will work hard as I can. I have five years' experience as a writing tutor at my university, during which I wrote and presented papers at multiple regional conferences for university writing tutors. I rose to become one of the most respected and requested tutors out of my peers. I many credit hours of pedagogy and teaching methodology classes, both for Teaching ESL and Latin, and a semester of student teaching under my belt.
I employ the Socratic method of asking lots and lots of questions. I see a tutorial as not a time for a student to soak up information, but to engage the mind and use the tools he has already been given. Of course, if a student truly doesn't know something crucial, I will tell him. I always try to make my instruction at least a little bit funny, and to connect the material to the student's interests, because these factors are known to enhance learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. The method we were instructed to use in the Akron city school system was Integrated which uses basic and whole language approach language Arts. These integrated units allow us the opportunity to make sure children are learning relevant information and applying that knowledge to real life scenarios. Language Arts is what I use in all my teachings and lesson plans.
