My comments on tutoring PSAT : I have tutored several students in the math section of the PSAT.

I think that I am very clear and concise in my explanations of concepts. I am also very good at explaining concepts in multiple ways. So if a student doesn't get how to do a problem using one method, I can go over another approach. I'm a good listener.
I have been teaching math since 8/2000. I first began teaching in a large urban district and then switched to teaching in a private school. I have taught math at both the high school and middle school levels. The subjects I have taught include algebra I and II, geometry, AP Calculus AB,and middle school math. I have tutored math every year that I taught, and also tutored GED math for 1 year.

My experience as a teacher and instructor has been centered around my experience as a musician. Learning how to play and read music drastically helped me in school in all of my other subject areas. I knew early on that I would continue to play music and also that I would want to stay involved with music in some way. I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization.
I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. As a graduate of a small liberal arts college, I have spent many hours volunteering to help tutor my classmates in both biology and the humanities. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology.
