My comments on tutoring Algebra II : My students do well.

I use the heuristic style - teach a little; now you try it! The student learns best what they learn from within. At my English boarding school, that is the way we were taught, and it worked. Also, I show them different study methods to see what works for them. I have read widely on psychology. Early on, I assess a student's best learning mode - visual, aural, spatial, numerical, verbal, etc., and play to it. While being active in drama I learned how to 'read' the hearers and viewers. My comments on tutoring Algebra II : I can teach all HS level and under mathematics.

I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. Any level of Mathematics!

First I write down the rules for students to use as a guide to solve problems. I believe the old saying "repetition is the father of learning" is very true. As a student in college, I had a professor who would walk into the class room, and begin writing example after example. I have adopted that approach because it helps students become familiar and establish a routine to problem solving. Then I solve some more similar problems while explaining the rules in each step.
