German is one of my top subjects! I am a native speaker of German. I have lived there from birth until age 21. I was raised bilingual as my grandmother was American, I spent much time at Mannheim BfV Elementary during my own school breaks and learned together with her class and later helped teach her classes. I currently teach this subject to my own child who is a home-schooled. I have two curriculum options available, one from grade 5 to 8 and one 9 to 12.

I like to mix between book learning, reading and if appropriate games and fun activities to break up the learning into interesting segments. But this very much depends on the student.
I lived most of my life in Germany and went to school there. I finished school with an Abitur (13 years of education) After that I started university however I met my husband and we started a family instead and I moved to Florida. Here I have been home-schooling my child and taken care of all of her educational needs. Due to my experience with home school I have researched most topics I teach to the absolute max, created lesson plans tailored to my daughter's skill and needs. I have a vast repository of curriculum and information available and will always adjust every lesson to the student's needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I strive to understand each student's learning style and then present material in a fun, easy, and interesting way. I want to incite the enthusiasm and genuine interest in learning that my former educators instilled in me. I am a caring, compassionate, enthusiastic educator who believes that humor and practical hands-on experience are vital elements in effective teaching. I firmly believe that children can learn anything when material is presented creatively.
Science and languages have always fascinated me. Now, as a biologist, I understand the the personal and international importance of science. I enjoy teaching students about the environment, the inner workings of a microscopic cell, an organism, or even a whole ecosystem. I have taught two community college level biology classes and have tutored grade school students in science, math, and English.

At a Wall Street bank, I trained new hires in the proper transmission of Telex and SWIFT messages. I later moved to SR&D as a Programmer Analyst. I worked in the creation and maintenance of programs needed by the bank. For 12 years, I recruited and trained independent salespeople, while conducting my own demonstrations. My income averaged upwards of $50k annually. From 1998 to 2008, I worked in an overnight freight setting as a supervisor where I was responsible for orientation and training of new hires. My BS in Health Science Education has given me a strong background in math and science. Reading and writing are also personal strengths of mine. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to perform the tasks in front of the student and explain everything, step by step, as well as give information on why I'm doing that step. Then, if the student understands and feels comforatable performing the task, I'll let them try it with me, being there to help out as needed. I like students to be very hands on when it comes to learning. Once they feel comfortable performing their task in front of me, they can usually be on their own after that. I also encourage students to ask as many questions as possible, and there are no dumb questions.
As a graduate of Purdue University, I have earned a bachelor's in chemistry. My chemistry degree is also accredited by the American Chemical Society. More About This Tutor...

I am born and raised in Berlin, Germany. I studied business administration at the University of Augsburg, Germany. Later I ran my own business in the entertainment industry in Berlin. In 2007 I moved with Starwood Hotels and Resorts to Cancun, Mexico. Since December 2010 I am with my wife and my 3 kids in Orlando, Florida. I am tutoring my daughter that is in 7th grade, my son that is in 2nd grade as well as some students from the local High School. I learned English in school starting in 4th grade. So I know how it is to start learning a new language in school, but also what it takes to become fluent in day to day life.
Most important is that the sessions are fun, but effective. Kids need to want to learn. By being native speaking I can bring the language alive, letting it out of the book. I know how people speak in Germany, but I also know by 13 years of school in Germany ho ... read more

I believe that all children can learn no matter what their ability level and love to find new ways of presenting information to children. I became a teacher to help children learn because of the help that was given to my youngest brother. He is many years younger than me and has Cerebal Palsy. I helped my mom homeschool him and would love to be able to help other children that need just a little more infomration to understand what they are doing.
As a special education teacher I strive to help all children learn in any way possible. I have my BS from the University of Alabama in Education of Young Children with Diverse Abilities. I have learned different ways to present information to children so that they are able to learn the information any way possible. I have a dual approach to teaching languages, including both structured lessons on grammar and also practice learning idiomatic phrases. I think it's important to approach foreign language practically, so that people can learn basic communication skills without necessarily knowing all of the grammar. While I do think that grammar is important to adult language learning, it takes time and should not overshadow learning how to speak.
Throughout my college career I have taught piano lessons to all ages and tutored both Italian and German through the university tutoring program. I started studying Italian as an undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and have continued for the past 7 years here and in Italy.
