I have throughout my entire grade school career been both a tutor and a mentor. As young as in nine years old in fourth grade I was selected to tutor kindergarten children in mathematics. As I grew older, I continually tutored my peers in a multitude of subjects, math being the prominent and my best subject. In my junior year of high school, I was personally selected to mentor and tutor at risk middle school aged children at the partnered junior high. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I have the ability to teach elementary Math and would do so anytime called upon.

Used what appears to work best for students. With all methods involved such as direct instruction, small groups and monitoring. Also engaged students in peer tutoring where that appears to work best for students with low ability to comprehend and understand the basics.Also observed was involving parents in homework assignments.Students who appear to have had a constant outstanding behavior, attendance and complete their assignments are assigned some assignments in the resource class to enable them interact with other students and know that they can make it outside the moderate intervention services class.

I have always possessed a love of helping others to learn. It brings me great joy to witness when an individual grasps a concept which they have been having difficulty with. I tend to use a demonstrator style of teaching by first working through a problem slowly while asking the student questions to ensure that they understand what I am doing. Then I help them work through similar problems while providing help until they fully grasp a concept.
