Teacher with gentle touch - Very good at explaining new subj

I try to find the teaching style that is going to work for the student. Are they visual? Do they need to touch to learn? Finding out how to teach them and then helping them learn skills for independent study are just as important as the material.
Web manager and usability analyst as well as instructor. I have been asked at various jobs to teach training classes to my peers because of my ability to deliver an easy to understand lesson. Reading is one of my top subjects! I hold a Masters in Literacy from NC State University. Currently I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy and will hold this certification until 2019. My NC Teaching License cover Language Arts, Social Studies, Reading K-12, and Elementary Education. I have taught reading from K to 12 and adult reading at the college level. My career has been wide and varied from teaching EC in the elementary school to suppervising graduate students at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Professional Development School.

I began teaching in 1976 in Tarboro, NC. My first teaching experience was in the middle school, grade 8. After that year, I taught fourth grade for 6 years. My next assignment was teaching at a junior high school grade 8 Language Arts, and grade 9 Basic English, and Diagnostic and Prescriptive Reading. This was followed by teaching middle school grade 6 for 5 years. After completing my Masters in Reading, I worked with the UNC-Chapel Hill Professional Development School supervising graduate students in Guidance, Psychology, and Education as well as teaching At-Risk readers in grades 1 and 2. Creative, energetic tutor with special needs experience

I homeschooled a gifted third grader, including administering standardized end-of-grade test, for 1 year. I have tutored homeschooled first and third graders in math, reading, writing, social studies, and art for the last 6 months. I tutored a 8-12-year-old with autism spectrum for 4 years. Helping Your Child Reach His Potential

My thing is repetition. Writing everything out and practice, practice, practice. Memorize to learn, not memorize just to pass a test. I want the kids to KNOW their material.
I have tutored elementary children one on one for about 2 years now. I did my student teaching at Friendship Christian School in Raleigh. My comments on tutoring Reading : Lower Elementary Teacher for 15 years. I like to look for the special ways to meet the way a student learns. I believe each child learns differently.

I am a previous elementary school teacher, focusing mainly in the lower grades during my 15 years of teaching. Prior to that I was trained and taught Montessori Elementary, Grades 1-3. I believe and was able to teach with a thematic approach in which all subjects were integrated. I was also trained in Bloom's Taxonomy, which is an awareness and knowledge of the seven different learning styles.
I believe each child has her/his own way in which to learn. It is a process of discovery but my experience and intuition are pretty darn good. I like to combine humor with organization and accountability, on my part, the student's part and as well as the parents'.
