Teacher with gentle touch - Very good at explaining new subj

I try to find the teaching style that is going to work for the student. Are they visual? Do they need to touch to learn? Finding out how to teach them and then helping them learn skills for independent study are just as important as the material.
Web manager and usability analyst as well as instructor. I have been asked at various jobs to teach training classes to my peers because of my ability to deliver an easy to understand lesson. I've been told I am very good at explaining a topic that someone has no experience with at all. I am on contract with NC States Computer Training Unit.

Reading is one of my top subjects! I hold a Masters in Literacy from NC State University. Currently I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy and will hold this certification until 2019. My NC Teaching License cover Language Arts, Social Studies, Reading K-12, and Elementary Education. I have taught reading from K to 12 and adult reading at the college level. My next assignment was teaching at a junior high school grade 8 Language Arts, and grade 9 Basic English, and Diagnostic and Prescriptive Reading. This was followed by teaching middle school grade 6 for 5 years. After completing my Masters in Reading, I worked with the UNC-Chapel Hill Professional Development School supervising graduate students in Guidance, Psychology, and Education as well as teaching At-Risk readers in grades 1 and 2. The rest of my career was teaching Title 1 and ALP II in Wake County, and over 7 years grades 1 to 5, all content areas, in Durham County.
My teaching style is very flexible depending on the student. I select programs which best fits the student, rather than forcing a student into a spec ... read more

I have tutored homeschooled first and third graders in math, reading, writing, social studies, and art for the last 6 months. I tutored a 8-12-year-old with autism spectrum for 4 years. I provided respite for children with disabilities for several years. I have coached Special Olympics swimming for 11 years for teens and adults. I have informally given piano lessons. Helping Your Child Reach His Potential

My thing is repetition. Writing everything out and practice, practice, practice. Memorize to learn, not memorize just to pass a test. I want the kids to KNOW their material.
I have tutored elementary children one on one for about 2 years now. I did my student teaching at Friendship Christian School in Raleigh. I enjoy teaching children to read and am proficient in teaching mathematics to younger children. I do well teaching one on one with no distractions. I am firm, but not mean. When it is time to tutor, nothing else is allowed but schoolwork.

My comments on tutoring Reading : Lower Elementary Teacher for 15 years. I like to look for the special ways to meet the way a student learns. I believe each child learns differently.

I am a previous elementary school teacher, focusing mainly in the lower grades during my 15 years of teaching. Prior to that I was trained and taught Montessori Elementary, Grades 1-3. I believe and was able to teach with a thematic approach in which all subjects were integrated. I was also trained in Bloom's Taxonomy, which is an awareness and knowledge of the seven different learning styles.
I believe each child has her/his own way in which to learn. It is a process of discovery but my experience and intuition are pretty darn good. I like to combine humor with organization and accountability, on my part, the student's part and as well as the parents'.

Learning as an Individual, Believing in Your Value

Have worked with elementary age children and have tutored/mentored in the workplace. With many years of work experience with employees of varying skill levels, I understand what it takes to be a valued contributor and understand that students learn in very different ways. Creating a relationship with information that is meaningful to the student is the best way to help them learn a concept or process. Most learning focuses on information assimilation while I focus on applying the concept or process to a real work situation that has meaning to the student.
Discovery with emphasis on individual learning style - for instance tactical or visual instead of instructional - also have worked with kids who have emotional issues or self image issues that hold them back from learning - interested in working with kids who are in need of a someone who sees them as an individual
