My comments on tutoring Teacher Cert Exams : Math portion of the GACE exam.

Since retiring in 2002, I have tutored over 4,000 hours of mathematics, including all levels of middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, II, & III, Geometry, Trigonometry, Integrated Math I, II ,III, and IV, plus Coordinate Algebra and Analytic Geometry, and Calculus. As a graduate from a rigorous teacher training program at USF, I learned many skills and techniques to to teach students of all ability levels and ages. I had many opportunities throughout my college career to practice and experience teaching students from large groups to one-on-one settings. I was a recipient of the Michelin Scholarship Grant which allowed me to go to local Title 1 Middle Schools and tutor at-risk students. I was also responsible for watching and tutoring a boy in elementary school for two years. In my internships and practicums, I have had a lot of hands-on experience.
