I finished my BA with concentrations in management and accounting at Troy University in 2007,then worked for three years in an Accounting Office. I left there in January 2010 to pursue my Masters in Accounting. I gained valuable experience in reading, writing and the application of mathematical formulas through working in a fast paced accounting office. I supervised one to three employees, trained them and audited their work. S. in Special Education from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from Tennessee Technological University, I taught special education classes at North Middle School in Lenoir City, Tennessee, for nine years before moving back home to take care of my parents. I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encouragement is a large component of what is missing in a lot of today's public school classrooms and love the opportunity that tutoring can provide to children who can learn just as well as anyone else, but may not be finding success in the classroom. My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus.
