My teaching style is very goal-oriented, yet flexible enough to accomodate a variety of methods. Some students learn best from lectures, other learn from visuals while some are much better at hands-on instruction and correlations/representations. Each student has boundless potential; it is up to a knowledgeable educator to help that student unlock their potential and soar. A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergrad, I excelled in the arts, history and social science courses. However, I lacked interest in math (I didn't get it) and failed college algebra two times! My goal was to graduate college and I decided to seek help. I came across the tutoring center on campus and found a tutor that changed my perception about math! In brief, my tutor was out going, patient and tried various techniques to help me learn the material. I passed college algebra with an "A"! As your tutor I will strive to accommodate your learning style to assure you reach your academic goals. I am patient, flexible and fluent in both English and Spanish.

I have a BA in Anthropology which means that I have experience working with diverse groups of people and have a certain understanding and appreciation of the differences among individuals. I have many years of experience tutoring adults and K-12 students. Some of my students have included those with mental disorders and physical handicaps. I have been a volunteer literacy tutor with the Kern Adult Literacy Council for 4 years, many of my students being parolees enrolled in education programs. I currently work as an SES tutor and my skills include tutoring K-12 English, reading, writing, and language arts and K-8 math.
