Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.

I have had a successful career as a medical scientist in hospital, government, and reference laboratories in the northeast and southern U.S., holding bench, supervisory, and leadership positions. I have two college degrees with published articles, and two national certifications, all in the sciences. While I hold a BA in American Labor History, I have a deep knowledge base of Central Asian, Near East and Asian history obtained from business experience. There were approximately 14 Seniors in the class and we utilized all of the Office programs from the creation of letterheads to the writing of business correspondence to mythical persons about various subjects. Subsequently I tutored high school seniors for the Princeton Review, an SAT prep business, for about a year and a half. I went from the Boston Public Schools to Commonwealth School and then Wellesley College, and would have been lost, early on, without help from tutors. I majored in English and Russian and work with several communities for whom English is not their first language. I greatly enjoy finding a way to inspire a child to understand the problem at hand. Through from my experience in grade school and my observation of students that attend tough schools I've realized the monotonous class schedule and disciplinary philosophy of most schools deflates most student's desire to succeed. While I can relate to this rebellious reaction I also know that it is no excuse for not trying very hard in school because the main path to success as a young adult is a high school diploma with excellent grades.
