My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I am NYS certified in Literacy (grades 5-12) and English (grades 7-12), although I have several years of experience with children as young as Kindergarten.

As an educator, I view myself not as a provider of knowledge, but rather as a facilitator. I aim to encourage the critical thinking that will serve students not only in the classroom, but throughout their lives. In my experience, I have become well-versed in student-centered curriculum development programs, including Understanding by Design, which I have employed extensively in my own lesson planning with gratifying results. I have earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in all grade levels. I have spent the majority of my teaching career educating young adults in the areas of math, science, reading, social studies and writing.
