REAL LEARNING IS FUN, RISKY, DANGEROUS...BUT NEVER BORING :)

My experience spans both the ivory tower and the world of business and industry. I have observed that "TEACHING" is often associated with the ideas of "PRESENTATION" and "ACADEMIC ENTERTAINMENT". Honestly, for many students it is comforting, soothing, and safe to sit in a chair and listen to an "ADULT" sing to them in the language of Calculus, Organic Chemistry, Java, etc. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT APPROACH. Nevertheless, I too have sung to many students in the language of General Chemistry at the Junior College Level. For over 5 years, I have tutored and taught students at the university and high school level. My adventures in business and industry have included 5+ years Software/Chemical Process Development. A Little Bit About Me...

After my BS in Chemical Engineering, during which I gained an understanding in many areas of math and science. I was immediately retained in the University to teach; in the period of 2007 to 2008 I taught almost all the math classes at undergraduate level while at the same time I actively participated in research at a drug development center before joining University of Tulsa (TU). At TU, I have been a tutor for 2 freshman classes including math and introduction to chemical engineering. Currently am tutoring heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics and calculus.
from experience, i can say different people learn differently and the best way to teach is to identify the way in which an individual is put to think. for example boys learn easily when quantities are expressed in numbers whereas girl grasp faster when quantities are related to their eventual effect.I believe all children ca ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I am very adaptive to students learning style. I usually spend the first ten minutes of our first meeting figuring out what the student is struggling with and how to best meet their needs. I try to teach students more how to think analytical more so then just solving problems because it is more beneficial to the student. I feel that if I can teach the student how to read theorems, understand concepts, then problems just become easy at that point.
I started tutoring part time in 2004 and have continued this throughout college. I worked as a math tutor for tulsa community college part time during the summer. I have earned over 190 hours of college credit, I have two degrees, and I am only 15 hours away from a chemical engineering degree.
