I started off being an elementary aide/tutor in 1988 in public schools. I loved working with children so I decided to go back to college to become a teacher. I attended several colleges in different cities (where my husband, daughter and I lived at the time). We moved to Amarillo,Tx. in 1994 where I attended Amarillo College to finish my basic hours. I transferred to West Texas A&M University in Canyon,Texas. I graduated in 1998 with a BS in elementary education and a concentration in math- grade levels 1st through 8th. I began as an education major at the University of Central Oklahoma before switching to Oklahoma Baptist University. I have worked with children in a professional setting since 2004 in church, non profit, daycare, early childhood, and preschool settings. I value education and find it to be a crucial and vital part of child development. I have tutored autistic students, as well as taught preschool for 14 months both at Saint Dunstans Preschool and Holland Hall College Preparatory School.
I believe teaching is about learning instead of the outcome. I practice "learning by doing" where they create their own style and way of accomplishing the task based on age appropriate methods and ways that work for them.
