As a caregiver for my two nephews and one niece I feel that I am very qualified to work with children. Since moving back to Memphis I have been very involved in their education and upbringing. I graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, La., where I was a tutor for the Saturday Science Academy. In the program, I was responsible for following a strict lesson plan designed to prepare the students for the yearly LEAP Exam, which is equivalent to the Memphis City School's TCAP. I focused on students in grades fourth and fifth in mathematics and reading comprehension. Upon my time spent at Dillard University and the programs existance the scores of students involved in the program increased tremendously from previous years. I love working with children and have two of my own. I am able to meet children where they are. I love to see the "Aha" moment when children figure out a concept. A lot of schools and classrooms are overcrowded and students need that special attention. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I have worked with various at-risk populations, including child with behavioral and emotional problems. I, myself have an 8 year old son who has been diagnosed with ADHD and a mood disorder. I know how extremely hard it is for parents during homework time. I have been working in the social work field for over 5 years. I also worked for Memphis City Schools for two years in various capacities. I have tutored students in various subjects.

I received a bachelors degree from The University of Memphis in integrative studies in the fall of 2009. Upon graduation, I was required to complete two semesters of student teaching. Also, during my four years of college, I tutored three different students, one in reading and the other two in English. From August 2009 through January 2011, I was employed at a child care facility where I was director but spent most of my time tutoring and assisting the after school kids with their homework and projects.
