From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. When training employees, my teaching style has always been to learn by doing. I believe that people do best in learning a new task when one explains the task before doing, then shows how to do the task while explaining, and then asks the trainee to do the task with guidance. The same goes for teaching an academic subject - explain how it is done, show a couple of examples while explaining, and then ask them to try with guidance. If this method of teaching is not working for a particular student, I will adapt my teaching to fit his/her needs. While I was a student at the College of Menominee Nation I was a tutor in the accounting and math areas. I am also very good with computers. I have been out of school for a few years, but I am always willing to help out anyone who had a question, and If I can help them out it's all the better. During my enrollment at the University of Arizona in Tucson, I tutored several students in advanced psychology courses as well as advanced English composition courses to undergraduates. I graduated from the University of Arizona with honors--a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and a memmber of Golden Key National Honor Society.
