I have taught elementary school for three years and tutored students through American Reads for three years while attending Southern Utah University. My last year I was supervisor over one of the tutoring sites at Cedar City Middle School. I kept track of running records, and attendance. Gave suggestions to tutors when in need of help and solved problems as they arose.

I have much experience teaching math to students of various learning styles. During the last 14 years, I have taught algebra, geometry, algebra 2, pre-algebra, basic math, pre-calculus, physical science, earth science, and biology mostly to high school level students. I also have much experience teaching "at risk" students and I have experience tutoring at Sylvan Learning Center. I really enjoy teaching math. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to help students of various learning styles to understand. I feel that patience and consistency are important virtues to exhibit when teaching. The learning environment is also important. It should be conducive to learning and not overly distracting. I enjoy seeing students learn concepts that they didn't know before and getting excited about their new understanding.

Over the past 20 years I have consulted with almost every educational publisher and assisted in the development of educational texts in writing, natural history,science, biology and cultural history. As well as working with publishers I have assisted in the creation of educational museum exhibits and worked as Field Producer for TV documentaries including clients such as PBS and the Discovery Channel. My love is writing, reading and the expressive arts - an ability and background I hope to share. My style is definitely mentoring by example. What I expect a student to do I will do as well so we share the experience and have fun learning. Before I come into any educational experience I research content and expect my students to share in the delight of gaining information. I love to learn and expect to share that with every student what-ever their age.

I have always been a dedicated student throughout all of my schooling, from kindergarten up to graduating from a university. I have a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education, and I have worked with students from 3-12. I believe working one-on-one with students can make a huge difference to help a students make progress. I think learning should be fun, and it can be fun if you go about it the right way. When teaching students, I provide a lot of student support, while expecting the students to work hard. I know that students can make progress and I am excited to help students make that progress.
