I believe that a hands-on approach to learning is best - in all subject areas. I have a great deal of experience working with students of various ages and learning styles. I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1989. My degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading. I first like to understand the student's learning style, as we all have different methods of learning. Some are visual, others do better with reading a text, or using examples. I use a variety of methods to teach my students, depending on age. I also want to learn where and why the student is struggling with the subject. I make my tutoring sessions interesting so that I capture the student's attention and thoroughly engage him/her. I am patient, understanding, and considerate of my students, instilling confidence and pride in learning.
