My teaching style is encouraging and stimulating. I love what I do and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I instruct specifically to the level of the student: from beginner to highly advanced. I've also been told that I'm pretty funny but you'll have to make up your own mind about that. I received my Bachelor of Arts in both Studio Art and Psychology from Brandeis University, Boston, and continued my studies for two years at the Jerusalem Studio School in Jerusalem, Israel, as a member of the Master Class with Israel Hershberg. I then received my Master of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and went on to teach at the Delaware College of Art and Design,Swarthmore College and Cornell College, as well as offering private lessons to all ages. I currently teach art online for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Most of my experience stems from my Bachelor of Arts degree at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA. As a Biology major, I have a good background in Life Sciences and Math. Some of my past experiences include working at a summer camp for two years as well as two years in an Emergency Room at a small hospital. My primary goal is to help students understand the "why" of studies. "Why" do we look for differentials in calculus? "Why" do we describe imagery in poetry instead of just saying how we feel? "Why" do we enter compound keys in some SQL tables but not others? "Why" do we need a conclusion on our essay? If we understand why we do something, we are far more likely to remember how to do it. It is also very important to use books that are not too easy or not too difficult for the child.
