I prefer to approach every student very slowly in the beginning to understand exactly where their trouble are. Listening is the most important attribute that a tutor can have followed by patience. It's my job to identify where the student's problem are and address those problems. My experience has tought me that most people just need a new perspective to understand certain materials at hand. Providing applications for someone learning new concepts is key for their development because the student understands how the concepts they're learning applies in the real world. I retired last year (2008) after 30 years as a Public Servant (law enforcement) with the City of San Diego. I have also retired from the Naval Reserve as a Master-At-Arms Chief in 2006. I have taught, counseled and mentored individuals throughout my career. I initially studied Physics and Math at college level and changed major after employment with the city. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with small children to adults, teaching English and school subjects. I work best with pre-teens- adults, however have no problem teaching small children. Tutoring is important for me because many times during my educational career I have needed tutoring myself, in regards to language barriers.
During high school I attended a special program, Health and Medical Occupations Academy, developed for students who wanted a career in the medial field. My high school classes were oriented towards the medical profession. In addition I was required to take anatomy/ physiology, biology, and several nursing classes. I am currently a 2 year medical student. Before entering medical school I worked voluntarily for an orphanage in Mexico. During my time at the orphanage (about 4 years) I participated in tutoring the children, of all ages, with school work and English.
