I believe that in order to fully understand a subject you must able to teach the subject.
I am a recent high school graduate with lots of experience in tutoring high school and elementary students with homework, tests, and projects. I'm also very much capable of helping with cheer-leading as i am very experienced and have been in several competitions. I definitely wouldn't consider myself a strict teacher but do what is necessary to make sure the subject is learned to its fullest.

I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. Students are empowered when they learn from their experience and begin to flourish in themselves. At university, my enthusiasm for the outdoors lead me to the arts. I took a particular interest in poetry and short stories and immersed myself in literary life at UCSD. My comments on tutoring Language Arts : This includes all aspects of English Literacy.

I believe a strong emphasis on spelling, grammar and comprehension is key to future learning. I approach these subjects from different angles so that it does stay interesting. I believe in bolstering self confidence and yet encourage students to put effort into their lessons.
I have taught grades 3 and six as part of my internship in Messina, New York. I tutored third grade children in remedial reading as a private business. After raising my own children and working in industry I returned to teaching. I taught ESL to adults in Boston, MA and as part of Literacy,Inc in Escondido, CA. I have tutored third grade students in reading as part of Oasis Program. I currently home school a third grade boy in all subjects. My students have enjoyed my classes and found learning can boost their confidence.

A Little Bit About Me...

This is my first time tutoring professionally. However, it is not the first time I help others to learn. Even though I am only a college student (an English major, soon to be studying creative writing as a minor field), I have often volunteered at an elementary school in San Diego, where I worked with younger children. My tasks included administering tests, helping them with their work, and teaching proper study habits. Hopefully, I can take this little bit of experience and help any other students that need it.
